Shout it from the rooftops, baby I’m ready to go
So I spent the past week on one of the greatest road trips of my life. Anna, Joe, Chad, Vito, Kathy, BP and I (all current employees of NET… except for BP who has lifetime employee status) headed to Sandusky, Ohio to visit the glory that is Cedar Point.
We made great time to Cedar Point and had a very interesting check in. Have you ever checked into your hotel room while “Baby Got Back” is playing over the lobby speakers? Well we have. Next, we had a great first meal at the Olive Garden, in spite of our waiter Vince who was… how do you say… a jerk.
The next morning, we went to pray and go to Mass at St. Mary’s in Sandusky. The church was beautiful and the priest, Fr. Noss was so full of joy. Coincidentally he was friends with Fr. Wilson, the vocations director for the Diocese of St. Paul.
So we headed back to the hotel and after partaking in the Waffle Bar at the La Quinta (Spanish for fix your own waffle) we headed to Cedar point where we had a TON of fun. Mainly because there was virtually NO ONE there! We rode every ride there multiple times including the Dragster, Millennium Force and the newest coaster Maverick. These rides are the ones that, during peak days are up to a 3 hour wait. We waited no more than 20 minutes for any of them. For lunch I hunkered down in the Chik-Fil-A Pavillion and tucked in a perfect Chik-Fil-A sandwhich. Back for more rides and fun and then we headed out.
We polished off the night with a stop at Outback where our server was STELLAR compared to Vince the Itallian Stallion. The best part? I had forgotten we were going back for a second day at the park. There was much rejoicing.
The second day was just as beautiful as the first and we rode everything we wanted to and again, had very little wait for anything. Back to Chik-Fil-A for lunch and then to finish off Cedar Point, we rode Millenium Force back to back and headed to Chili’s to celebrate one heck of a day.
Thursday, we got up early and drove down to Indiana to pick up a couple of new vans for the NET Teams and then got on the road to get home. I dropped Chad and Vito at O’Hare and headed up to hang out with my friend Sarah (aka Captain Provo) in Madison while I waited for the other two vans to catch up. After an on-ramp rendezvous, we caravaned back to St Paul and tucked in late last night.

After all those rides I’d be headed to the Vomitorium post haste.
Otherwise what a great time with special friends.
Cedar Point sounds like much more fun than Wally World.
Now I’m off to grab a porkchop sandwich. Amen
